Beauty Confession #2: I hate wearing sunscreen.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ll wear it if I know I’m going to be outside for a long time with lots of exposed skin (hanging out at the pool, gardening, etc.), but I generally don’t wear sunscreen on a daily basis. Yes, I know, sunscreen/sunblock is a great way to prevent premature aging (and skin cancer!), but I abhor the way it feels on my skin. Even sunscreens designed for the face feel greasy and filmy to me. I just can’t make myself go through that every day.
Unfortunately, I have very fair skin and a history of skin cancer in my family (my paternal grandmother actually passed away several years ago from a rare form of it) so it’s really high time that I institute a daily sunscreen regimen. I need to prevent further damage and possibly reverse some damage that I’m sure has occurred over the years.
So here’s my plan: A few months back I bought Boots No7 Rebalancing Day Fluid SPF 15 for oily/combination skin on sale from Target, and I have been wearing it occasionally.
While it definitely feels like sunscreen when I first put it on, it’s tolerable and the feeling fades away quickly. If I keep wearing this everyday I know I’ll be better protected against harmful UV rays. I also usually wear either a foundation and/or a powder containing some sunscreen, and while I would probably not rely on one of those products alone, in combination with my moisturizer I feel nicely protected. I’m also planning to search for a non-greasy-feeling dedicated sunscreen product for the summertime so I’ll be even better protected against UV rays. A few I’d like to try include:
Supergoop! City Sunscreen Serum
LaRoche-Posay Anthelios (not sure which one)
COOLA Face SPF 30 Matte Finish Cucumber
colorescience pro sunforgettable Mineral Sun Protection Powder SPF 30
I’d also love to hear your suggestions, if you have any you’d like to pass along!
Thanks, and check back again tomorrow for Beauty Confession #3!

For 2013, I thought I’d do a twist on the traditional New Year’s resolutions. Welcome to my new series, where I will be confessing some of my beauty faux pas (if you will) and how I plan to fix them in 2013. Here goes!
Beauty confession #1: I rub in my eye cream. I don’t even use my ring finger.
Everyone knows you are supposed to pat in eye cream with your ring finger to protect the sensitive skin around the eye. But really, ain’t nobody got time for that! Eye cream has to absorb before I can apply makeup and I just don’t want to wait.
Every year, though, I notice the fine lines around my eyes a little more, so I know I have to take better care of my skin or things could worsen quickly.
So here’s my plan: use just a little less and pat it in first thing after my shower so it has time to absorb. Hopefully this will slow the aging process a little further.
Check back tomorrow for another Beauty Confession!

NARS has a new Mini Bronzing/Highlighting Blush Duo and it’s adorable!
It’s available at Sephora for $24 for 0.17 ounce (the original is $41 for 0.35 ounce). If you’re like me and you:
- like tiny products
- don’t use products up that often
- don’t like to go over $25 (or even $30, $35, or $40) for one makeup item
Then this may be the product for you! I also think this would be a perfect stocking stuffer for the makeup lover in your life! Happy shopping!
